Hotbed 2009 will showcase and celebrate brand new work from some of the UK’s best playwrights.  The festival programme includes big names from the world of new writing, plus the finest up-and-coming talent.

Anna Reynolds, winner of several Writers Guild and Time Out awards, has written Hotbed 2009’s flagship production, Stand By Your Van.

Fraser Grace returns to Hotbed, after the phenomenal success of Breakfast With Mugabe, first commissioned by the Royal Shakespeare Company and since staged in the West End and the USA.

Clare Bayley won a prestigious Fringe First Award at last year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe for her play, The Container.  Clare’s brand new play At Sea premieres at Hotbed 2009.

Multi-award winning writer Judy Upton also returns to Hotbed, with a hilarious new play, Flick To Kick, about a Subbuteo tournament that descends into farce.

Along with established names, Hotbed features the best new talent, plus a host of visiting companies and performers, including Real Circumstance, Chris Dobrowolski, and performance-poet Helen Mort.

Not to mention workshops, panel discussions and, finally, the Hotbed favourite, the One-Page-Play-Competition-athon!

We hope you can join us for one, many or all of the events which make up this year’s Hotbed Festival.
